Mariam recently completed her first year at Osgoode Hall Law School. In addition to her legal studies, she worked as a Junior Caseworker in the Administrative Law Division at the Community and Legal Aid Services Program, a legal aid clinic affiliated with Osgoode Hall Law School. She also served as an Associate Editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal and will return as a Senior Editor in her second year. Mariam worked as a research assistant in property law and competed in the Lerners Cup Moot and the Norton Rose Fulbright Negotiation Competition. Prior to law school, she earned a Bachelor of Commerce in International Management at McGill University as a McCall MacBain Loran Scholar. During her time at McGill, Mariam served as an Integrated Management Student Fellow, researching academic innovation. She also served as the United Nations Communications Officer for the International Relations Students’ Association of McGill’s Youth Advisory Delegation, representing the McGill community at several United Nations Commissions. Before law school, Mariam worked in migration economics and advocacy in Singapore. She also worked as a Vice-Consul with the Foreign Service of Canada, serving in Shanghai and Mexico City. Her work focused on promoting Canada’s interests abroad, particularly with respect to migration. Outside of work and her studies, Mariam enjoys reading non-fiction, painting landscapes and mountain hiking.
