About
Pavle focuses on construction law, advising on complex construction and infrastructure mandates. He combines strategic insight with deep expertise to achieve favourable outcomes, delivering efficient and pragmatic legal counsel to clients across the construction spectrum, including owners, contractors, design professionals and municipalities.
Pavle is Co-Leader of the firm's Construction Group and a member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group. His practice encompasses major infrastructure projects (light rail systems, transit stations, municipal capital infrastructure and other major public projects) as well as landmark high-rise residential and mixed-use developments in Toronto and Ottawa.
On the dispute side, Pavle advises on issues such as delay claims, deficiencies, designer negligence, fee disputes, construction liens and breach of trust actions. His arbitration experience includes disputes under the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC) and ad hoc rules. These cases have involved various project delivery methods, such as P3 and design-build-finance-maintain (DBFM), engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM), and design-build contracts. Pavle’s expertise allows him to navigate disputes involving intricate technical aspects, such as building envelope design, concrete deficiencies, trackwork, geotechnical issues, and subsurface utility engineering investigation and relocation.
A significant part of Pavle’s practice also includes “front-end” work for government owners on public projects, as well as for private sector clients. Pavle regularly drafts and negotiates CCDC-style and bespoke agreements, and advises clients on procurement and consultant-related aspects of construction projects.
Pavle has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada in the field of Construction Law and by Benchmark Litigation Canada in its 40 & Under List and as a Litigation Future Star in Arbitration.
