Saira recently completed her first year at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. At law school, she worked as an intake volunteer with Downtown Legal Services, a legal aid clinic affiliated with the University of Toronto. She also participated in the Hamish Stewart Cup, a criminal and constitutional law moot. Prior to law school, Saira earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History, with a minor in Political Science, from the University of Alberta. She graduated with High Honours and received the Alison White Honours Prize for achieving the highest GPA over the four-year program. As part of the Honours program, she wrote a thesis examining the relationship between the Dutch, Indigenous populations and enslaved Africans in colonial Guyana. During her undergraduate studies, Saira was a member of the University of Alberta’s competitive cheerleading team and represented Canada at the 2024 FISU World University Cheerleading Championships in Croatia. She also worked at the Legislative Assembly of Alberta while completing her degree. In her free time, Saira enjoys running outdoors in all seasons and reading literary fiction.
